The Road To Blogging Success

The number one blogging question that I get asked all the time is, Wade, how do you make money with your blog?  I get different emails on Facebook, Twitter, and my regular mail asking me these questions.  So as I just finished speaking at the Beginner’s Blogging Convention in Louisville, KY today, I thought I would spend some time and just tell you what it takes to learn how to make money with a blog.

Blogging Success Comes With These

In order to be a successful blogger, there are many things that you need to consider. Traffic is one of those things. Now, I don’t want to spend time on a whole post telling you about the in’s and out’s of search engine optimization for beginner’s, there is just not enough time. However, there are some things that a new blogger faces in getting traffic.

Number one, it is a new blog, therefore you are not going to show up in organic searches right away. Most of the people I met at the convention in Kentucky came up to me and started asking me questions about SEO. What type of strategy should a new blog have? How many links should they build, etc. These are not wrong questions by any means, a person needs to have a good SEO strategy in place to succeed in blogging.

To all of those people who asked me these questions I would have to say that since your blog is new, don’t focus so much on SEO at first. You have to get your blog noticed and get it out there, and the easiest and most efficient way to do this is through social media sites like Facebook.

Blogging success goes hand in hand with consistency. Stay consistent. Whatever it is that you are doing in your strategy, you must do it every day! If you do choose to do an extreme overhaul on link building, then make this your number one priority to get your site noticed.

This was one question that a lady asked me when I was on panel in Louisville:

What is the most important strategy to make money online?

I had to answer with this…consistency.  Whatever it is that you are doing, keep doing it.  There are a lot of link building posts on this site that you can refer to if you need some help in building your strategy in this as well.

Success in blogging comes with hard work, hard time, and hard patience!  Blogging is a very lucrative career to get into, however, it’s not that fastest paying job that you can have on the internet!  If you have chosen to blog in order to make money then you need to have these things:

Love For The Job

And it is a job!  A full time job as a matter of fact!  You must have picked a niche that you love so that you can consistently blog about topics that relate to your subject.  There is nothing more degrading than picking out something and then losing interest in it halfway through the whole thing!  Find a blog that suites you.  Something that you know a lot about, and something that you enjoy telling people about!  Loving what you do is probably the most important choice that you can make for your blog.

Consistency For The Job

I know I have already said this, but consistency is important.  It’s not enough that you have started your blog.  Now you have to post on it every week!  Find a schedule and stick with it!  Some people think that posting every day is necessary, and yes, it’s better because the Google bot sees that you have new content and indexes that content, but you have to think about whether or not you can post every day.  If the answer is no, then set a schedule that you can keep.  This goes for link building and social media as well.  I have a set schedule for this blog.  I write a post on Monday and one on Friday…two per week, that’s what I shoot for.  The same goes for my blog commenting and social media posting. My Twitter account posts for me, so that’s taken care of, however, there are still a lot more social media sites that I have to schedule for.

The best idea is to sit down and write out what you are going to do, what you have time to do for your blog.

Blogging Success Takes Time

Most of your great bloggers like ThinkTraffic, and Darren Rowse of ProBlogger have been doing this quite a long time, and if you asked them how long it took for them to become successful at blogging, I think you will be surprised to hear the answer!

If you forget every tip and trick that you have learned on the road to blogging success, don’t forget this one. Consistency. It will happen for you. As long as you are trying to help people with perfect blog posts, are building links and staying on social media, the internet god’s are going to smile on you and bless you with traffic. And traffic, as you already know, is the holy grail of blogging success!

  1. Consistency really is so important! I am committing myself to blog a certain amount of times per week and will try hard to get that done. I know how important it is.

    • You consistently post on your blog. When i first met you I didn’t think you were going to be able to keep up with that much posting, but you do it somehow!

  2. Very nice informative blog wade! And yes, it does take time… and have to be consistent. Thanks for sharing! love it! :)

  3. Hi wade, thanks for a great post. i think iam lack the consistency as you said. so i building w new blog and i hope it will be a great blog like yours

sorry for my bad English. :)

  4. Yes, consistency is the name of the game. Just like you Wade, I set a weekly schedule and stick to it. When you commit to a schedule it takes the pressure off. You know what to do and when to do it.

Keep bringing the value to your readers and followers, Wade!!

  5. It is true that people have to pick a topic that they are interested in – and not only one that could make them money because otherwise the motivation can go away quickly and when this happens, the best, money-making niche dosn’t help much but when people pick a topic they like, there are better chances for success. Thanks for this interesting article.

    • Too many times I have seen where people get into the Internet marketing niche just because they see dollar signs! You have to love and know something about the blog you create.

  6. I really enjoyed this post because I’ve been thinking of a new way to present the idea of consistency. Did you start to blog first and then develop your own products or did you get recruited into a system? I am with a system now and I rarely blog about them, but instead blog about things that don’t have to do with “getting money.” Do you agree?

    • I can only tell you what works for me. I started a blog. I was not recruited into any selling system like MLM. You can go to The HandyMan of Network Marketing for more tips on MLM.

Anyway, I have found that its good to blog about things that work for me. In the post below I show you how a proven Twitter program gets me all kinds of social media visits. You can blog about things that will help people. Even if you will make money from it…it doesn’t cost the reader anything extra to buy through me.
