Looking At The Internet Through Different Googles-Oops, I Mean Goggles!

Google Eyes

I looked up the term “Google Eyes” and came up with various different results. There were two that caught my attention. Both were from The Urban Dictionary, and had two different meaning entirely.

Google Eyed: 1) a certain odd and slightly humorous appearance or expression in someone’s eyes. Whether the person google

was slightly cross-eyed, cockeyed, or had a lazy eye, or simply postured their eyes in an odd way during an expression.

2)A feeling of lostness and sadness that occurs during times of freedom on the internet when the world’s most powerful search engine is before you, but you do not have the incentive or motivation or curiosity to look up anything interesting.

I thought this was interesting anyway, I finally figured out the meaning behind what I have been doing all this time…No, not the cross-eyed look, the times I have free to go anywhere online, but have no idea where that destination should be!  However, sometimes trying to figure out where I want to go makes me feel cross-eyed sometimes.

Seeing Your Site Through Google Eyes

I know that it’s important to be noticed on Google.  I guess this explains all of the competition for keywords in the Google toolbar, but needless to say, you’re not going anywhere until you can get Google to notice you.

Now, I’m not here to say that site optimization up the yin-yang is the answer! This would dispute everything that I have blogged aboutgoogle in the past, but there areways and things you can do to get the “Google Eye” in your favor.
Try some of these tips out and then see if you are not looking a little better to Google!Since I am not a huge fan of optimizing blog posts, I will show you some of the things I do to get noticed on a different scale. There is more things that you can do besides keyword stuffing!

  • Blog Commenting- Since the Penguin is roaming around, you may want to consider dropping all of those link farms that you may have registered with and start your blog promotion.  Since the Penguin, Google looks at your site and the relevant links that are pointing at your site for backlinks.  Find some blogs in your niche and start commenting.  This will also help you get involved with other bloggers too, which is always good.
  • On-Site SEO- Now even though it is not a great idea to stuff keywords in your blog posts, it is a good idea to optimize your blog site itself.  Whether you are on WordPress, Blogger, Joomla, or any other platform, they all have meta tags for you to edit that can go a long way to help you get noticed by Google.  Take your keywords that you want to get noticed for and place them inside the description, title, etc. Even though your posts shouldn’t be filled with keywords, your meta tags should be.
  • Social Media Sharing- If you have taken notice at all to some of the changes that have been made, then you will know that sharing your posts, and encouraging others to share your posts, on social media sites is going to benefit your site.  Heck, even SEO Quake has a tab for the number of social media sites that have indexed your website!  I know I have said this before, and I apologize if you’re getting sick of reading this, but it’s true…I forsee the Google+ button to be integrated into the algorithm sometime in the future.  Social media sites are important.

A person emailed me the other day and asked me what I did to get noticed on the first page of Google and get traffic to my blog.  Even though it’s not a lot of steps, these are exactly what I do.  There’s not a lot of steps, but it is time consuming to do this, an

d that’s why I use different social media tools and other things to help me get the edge on doing this daily and keeping my time more managed so I am able to do other things.

Your Site According To Google

I see a lot of young internet marketers(age makes no difference, it’s the experience), that get excited when they first set up their site, when it doesn’t pan out for them in the first couple of months, they give up!

googleNow, unless you haven’t already figured it out, I don’t want this to be a traditional blog. I want people to really get help. However, a lot of you have emailed me in the high hopes that I can snap my fingers, perform a miracle, and get you into loads of cash within a month or two.

It takes a little while before your site gets established online.  Forget about SEO for a minute, you CAN get your site noticed with my free ebook Boost Your Social Media Traffic Overnight. Getting traffic, however, is not the point of this post. The point is getting Google to notice your site without compromising your posts and content.

Remember that your reader is your MOSTimportant thing about your blog! Keep the information relevant and helpful. I actually was on a forum the other day where a guy told us that writing helpful content wouldn’t get you noticed by Google. The fact that he is wrong is irrelevant, this just made me realize that there are a lot of people online selling this garbage.

Your site is an extension of you. If you want to be successful don’t write about things that are of use to your reader. Make sure you give them what they want. Forget Google! The way Google looks at your site is important for pagerank and settings, but make your reader the number one priority in your strategy and you will go a long way!

  1. Hey Wade,

This post really hits home about the main purpose of a blog. The “PEOPLE” as a newbie or even not, the focus soon become about the money, the ranking, the this the that.

If a blog can help people solve a problem or gives them new takes on things then you will never need to worry about traffic. Truth is, the less I can rely on Google the better, that means you have built a solid network of readers and promotion.
