The Psychology of a Twitter Marketing Strategy

If you’ve been reading the news, then you may wonder if having a Twitter marketing strategy is even worth it anymore! Google Plus seems to be passing all the twitter marketing strategyplatforms and is ever steadily creeping up on Facebook with the idea to knock them off of their King of the Hill position as social media favorite.

But a Twitter marketing strategy is still important.

Twitter is still a key platform for your blogging business and a great place to get traffic from. The people that are going to totally disregard Twitter, and jump ship over to Google Plus only will not be considered smart. Because, as you know, people still use Twitter a lot, and there is still gold in them thar tweets.

Maybe your marketing strategy for Twitter isn’t so great. That doesn’t mean you have to totally give up and go somewhere else!

I get it. You’re probably having trouble getting followers, and you may also be having a tough time getting traffic too. But I just want to take a little time to tell you the up-side of your situation and how you can resolve it.

Using Your Twitter Marketing Strategy & Psychology

It’s easy to get connected to people on Facebook and other platforms like this. You simply have to request permission from these people, and if they accept, then they are seeing your feed, unless you are dealing with someone that really knows the platform and has edited the feed for their preferences. However, statistics say that only 30% of people really know what they’re doing when it comes to this, so you’re probably in good shape.

With Twitter it’s different. Getting connected to a person is really easy. But, as you know, it’s getting them to connect with you that is so hard. But honestly, that’s the good part. When you obtain a follower on Twitter, considering you didn’t go out and buy any, these people are probably interested in what you have to say.

Usually a follower on Twitter stays a follower.

There is always certain steps you can do to stay consistent with your Twitter marketing strategy and you should keep these up too, but one thing is certain, you want the end result to end up being steady and consistent traffic coming from Twitter all day long (and all night).

The 140 character wall

Once again, there is a stumbling block put in your way when you first start out with Twitter. You only have 140 characters that you can input as text into your update.

As a newbie, this may seem very threatening, but you will see with time that it does get easier to do.

The 140 character limit is where most people go wrong. As you probably have noticed in my new ebook, the social update is being missed by a long shot by a lot of bloggers.

You put all of this time into writing your post, researching it, doing your keyword stuff for Google, and then you just plaster it all over social media without giving any thought to what to actually write in the update. You’re not giving any thought as to how you’re impacting your fans and followers when they see this update in front of them.

That’s where all the social media traffic went if you were wondering.

It’s because you missed it in the update. Sure you’ve got a great post, but if no one sees it why bother? I’m reminded of a show I like to watch called Duck Dynasty when the old man, Si, I think they call him, said You can’t fix stupid.

It seems to me that if you’re not going the whole way then you’re probably missing a few upstairs.

But what’s a good Twitter marketing strategy?

Think about what you have written. Every update must reflect on whatever or wherever you’re trying to send that person. It must be logical and make sense, all the while grabbing their attention, affecting their emotions, and making them want it.

On to The Twitter Marketing Strategy

Getting more followers is the key to any good marketing strategy for Twitter. Once you get the updates down pat, you’re going to get the traffic and having more followers will enhance that.

Most followers come from outside of the Twitter platform. Usually it’s from people scanning your site for some reason or another and they happen to like something that you have written and they follow you. However, don’t just rely on that aspect of it. Getting yourself out there and connecting with and meeting new people should also be a top priority in your marketing strategy.

One other thing I would like to add is to place a Twitter follow button in the sidebar of your blog. You know, the one where people can just click and it automatically puts them following your tweets.

This makes it super easy for them to perform the action that you want them to perform on your site. Another cool thing is to allow them to tweet something, like I did above(and below). Not having to type it out is a good thing as well!
