Why I Hate The Phrase “Content Is King”

I do, I really hate when people repeat the phrase Content Is King over and over. I would love to find the first person that ever said that and beat him/her about the head and neck with a baseball bat.

Now if you’re a new blogger and never heard of this, trust me, you will eventually. While you may not understand the total conception of this idea, you’re still a blogger andcontent is king I’m sure that you have an idea of what you will be writing about in the future.

Let Me Explain Why I Hate “Content Is King”

Most of us are consumed with blogging. It’s our way of life, and the way we make a living online. Saying that content is king is like saying social media is a communication platform.

Having great content is a requirement in blogging. You don’t need to remind me every day, thanks.

If you don’t have great content, then you’re not making money. It’s as simple as that. As a blogger, I know the benefits of writing content that appeals to the reader. I know that without content that’s appealing and informative the reader won’t stay. I realize that without great content I may as well shut down this blog and go back to mining coal.

When I started this blog a year ago I knew nothing about blogging, but I came into the industry with an understanding of how content works when it pertains to blogging.

You need to take a long walk off a short pier if you think you can get away with posting crap that has affiliate links all over the post. You may as well go home right now if that’s your main concern.

Maybe that’s why I see all of these “Content Is King” posts. Are they for you? If so, clean up your blog because I’m getting tired of seeing them.

Why This Should Already Be Known

Like I said before, you’re going to learn really early that content should be your top priority on your site. Their will always be bloggers that influence you, and hopefully, they will influence you in a positive way enough for you to know that your content is the life’s blood of the blog you run.

How to make content important

Making content important is rather hard when you first start in the blogging industry. You have a mindset of making money, and therefore you see dollar signs in every post.

What happens?

You usually end up promoting everything under the sun without realizing the cause and effect that it ha on your readers. Usually a good blogger realizes this before major traffic starts to hit their blog and they correct it. The one’s that do understand this fact are usually the one’s still around.

Get money out of your mind for about 5-6 months! It’s just not going to happen! Unless you have some corporate backer behind you, it’s just not possible!

Creating great content on your blog is as easy as staying up to date on the news in your niche. Reading and researching should be one of the main things that you should be doing for your blog.

I see a lot of posts on “writer’s block” that I really don’t understand. If you’re staying current on everything, you shouldn’t have any problems on figuring out what to write on your blog. However, there is a cool program that you can use that’s free that will help you get started with your posts by giving you title ideas if you need them.

Content Is King?

Really? I didn’t know that! I’m sure you had no idea about that fact either! I think a lot of people write and say this phrase when they have nothing else to write or say because they know that if there’s anything that will be accepted in the marketing world, it’s this phrase.

Wow, you really blew my mind with that one. But as for me and my reader’s, we didn’t just crawl out from under a rock yesterday! I believe we’ve got it, thanks!

    Ha haaa! Good point Wade.

Yeah I think people are missing the point when it comes to determining if their content is good enough to be “king” anyway.

Average time duration and bounce rate are two big indicators of how well people are reacting to your posts.

If you can’t get these numbers to improve over time then all the back links in the world won’t help you grow.

If content is King that means it has to be a prince first.
My advise use analytics to find out if your content is an heir to the throne ……..holmes lol

  2. It’s very clear after latest update of google if you have good content on your site/blog only then you would achieve image in online marketing other wise all doors are shut for your site/blog.

Content definitely is king, but I’m getting sick of hearing it as well. It’s almost as if nobody else wants to write anything aside from it because they’re afraid of being wrong. The thing is, being willing to write about things other bloggers won’t write about is almost enough to guarantee success in itself.

Hi Wade, I suspect you’d have a hard time beating up the person who coined the phrase ‘Content is king’ because it was Bill Gates. I bet he has an army of body guards. :-) Good post, by the way.

Hahaha, Wade, I guess you hate the phrase simply because it is a cliche that hammers the truth in your mind every time you see it? Thanks for seeing it from the other perspective, for through this post, I also have learnt who came up with the phrase, yes, and He wasn’t even a blogger! :(
