Using YouTube SEO For Your Posts

YouTube SEO

Now there is something to help you called YouTube SEO for your blog posts. As a blogger, one doesn’t really think about using YouTube to help them gain a higher ranking in the search engines. youtube seo

This is something that I have been playing with over the past few months. It is common knowledge now that having a YouTube video embedded inside your blog using common YouTube SEO inside of it, you can really achieve a better position in the search engines.

Why Video’s?

More and more people are using YouTube to search for what they need to know. Especially in the world of internet marketing, there are more valid answers to your questions by searching a related video than reading a blog post about it. For example, I had a question the other day about the DiggDigg Sharebar on my site. I wanted a visual of what I was thinking about in my head so I could better understand how to do it. Since Ms. Ileane’s YouTube SEO was the best one on there, I watched her video about The DiggDigg Tutorial

So this is why we should start to incorporate video’s into our blog posts from now on. I say “we” because I need to do more of this too.

Using YouTube SEO With Your Blog

You probably already know how to create a video on YouTube, but what you may not know is the process that you need to do in order to get that video noticed.

Edit the necessary options to get the desired effect for your keywords.

Make sure your YouTube SEO is the same as your blog post. As in the link above, you now know that Google now indexes URL’s with embedded YouTube video’s in them. So make sure you have the same keywords and descriptions…or at least let them compliment each other.

YouTube is pretty common and easy to do and figure out. There is also a cool WordPress plugin that you can use to embed your video to your post called Smart YouTube Player. This makes it a whole lot easier to embed in your site.

What else?

How hard is it to get noticed on YouTube?

This has always been a question in my head. YouTube SEO is different in as many ways as it’s the same as Google as far as SEO goes. However, how do you get noticed on YouTube for a specific video? Same as you would do it normally for Google. You build links, have people link back to it, and share, share, share!

If you want to get noticed on a certain platform.  You have to be active on that platform.  Just as in social media, you must be “social” in order to get likes and visits.  The same goes for YouTube.

YouTube SEO & Your Blog

Below I have a video explaining more in-depth on how you can couple your YouTube SEO efforts with your on site and off site optimization efforts.

  1. Hey bro,
Youtube is a huge source of traffic but it’s still a nightmare in my country where bandwidth is still generally very low. Just hopping things get better soon

  2. It’s a same that I didn’t embed youtube videos into my older posts. I could have easily embedded videos of the working of some of the programs I posted on my blog. Now that I’m aware of this I will try including youtube videos in my blog posts. Thanks for the useful information.

  3. Wade, nice breakdown on YouTube and SEO. A lot of people miss the boat when it comes to this. I have several videos ranking on the first page of google for their keywords using some of the same tips you have given here.

Great value for your readers. Thanks Mate!!

  5. Great article.
While I always have the option of creating my own you tube videos for my blog, will using free you tube videos also help my blog posts rank higher in search engine rankings?
Besides, as long as I am not ASKING my readers to DOWNLOAD the video per se, does using an existing you tube video amount to infringement of copyright?
Can I be penalized by Google SERPs or by Adsense for doing so?
I’ll look forward to your reply.

    • What I mean by using YouTube SEO is to create a video that your blog post is about, and uploading it to YouTube. You can build any type of link to your YouTube video to rank it higher…even those from Fiverr. Make sure you put a link to your blog post in the YouTube description and when you get ranked up you are actually ranking your blog post higher too.
